PARLEZ SESSIONS / REVRT

This summer, Parlez is busy joining forces with a selection of DJs, producers and musicians to bring you the Parlez Sessions, a series of mini mixes to soundtrack your summer.
Our third edition comes from Revrt who sets span genres from jungle and drum & bass to hip-hop and scratch.
Get to know the man himself in our interview and hit play!

Thanks for joining us for Parlez Sessions! What's the vibe you've gone for in your mix?

Cheers, thank you for having me! So in this mix, I really wanted to champion a combination of new music & general beats I tend to play in my sets, so this package has got some DnB, jungle, hip-hop and halftime I’ve also retained some of the pad drumming and scratching I use when performing live.

Can you tell us a bit about your background and what you play?
I've been DJing for half my life and DnB was the first genre I learnt how to beat-match by ear on vinyl. I played in the genre until I felt the scene had become saturated with jump-up, so I started experimenting in playing other genres.

More recently I've slowly started to discover artists and producers who I felt were progressing the genre and reigniting my love for it again, by making changes and switch-ups and generally not wanting to conform to the norm. A couple of people who I hold in high regard for this are Alix Perez, Fracture, Fixate, Ivy Lab, Sam Binga, Om Unit, Shades, Halogenix, Jon1st, Moresounds.....I could go on!

What have you got going on over the summer?

I've entered the 2019 Red Bull 3Style competition, which is a global DJ competition. I came 2nd in the UK last year in my first EVER battle, so I've got the hunger to do it again!

Festival-wise, I’m doing Nozstock on 20th July, doing a strictly beats and bass music set, and I've just been penciled in for St. Pauls Carnival in Bristol. More deets to follow!

What's your tune of the year so far?

Alix Perez - "Last Rites"

What do you like to wear, and what other brands are you into?

Vans, Adidas, Dickies...hoodies are my fav thing. I love a fresh hoodie! A hoodie with a jacket over the top as a combo is a no brainer.
